Free Theater Tickets for Door County Students

Northern Sky Theater, the new name of American Folklore Theater, in partnership with Door Shakespeare will once again invite all Door County students to a complimentary evening of entertainment under the stars. Capitalizing on the popularity of their ongoing student ticket program, Northern Sky will distribute nearly 4,000 free tickets to all five Door County schools as well as area homeschooling students.

“Typically, our student ticket specifically invites area youth to see our world premiere each season. However, with two new shows set to premiere on our Peninsula State Park stage this summer [When Butter Churns to Gold and No Bones About It], we’ve decided to invite them to both,” stated Marketing Director, Ann Birnschein. “Essentially this means we’re doubling the amount of tickets we would normally make available.”

Door Shakespeare will give students a chance to witness the poetic tale of love, strife, family, and fate in Romeo & Juliet in the Garden at Björklunden.

“We hope students and their families will take advantage of all three of their options this summer,” added Birnschein. “Like last summer, one of our new shows, No Bones About It, is actually loosely based the on the work that Door Shakespeare is presenting this summer, Romeo & Juliet. We think it would be fun for students to compare and contrast the two stories.”

Tickets will be distributed the week of May 25. Parents are encouraged to check their school office in the event they do not receive a ticket. Students will need to present their complimentary tickets at the theater venues. All performances are suitable for all ages. For more information visit or
