Friends Book Sale Set for End of July

The Annual Friends of the Door County Library Book Sale will be held July 24 to July 26 in Sturgeon Bay. This year’s sale will be held at the Sturgeon Bay Branch of the Door County Library, 107 South 4th Avenue. Book sale hours are Thursday, July 24 from 6 – 8:30 pm (members only or $5 membership fee at the door); Friday, July 25 from 9 am – 5 pm; Saturday, July 26, 9 am – 4 pm in the basement of the library.

Many antique, vintage and collectible books will be featured, as well as other collectibles, which were donated to the Friends group. LeeAnn Michalske, co-chair of the event, says these donated collectibles are an added feature and should attract people interested in collecting items other than books. Sheet music from the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s, postcards from many areas of the country and Europe, which may have stamps of interest, as well as magazines, will be available for sale.

Other donated books for sale include fiction, mysteries, romance and non-fiction books covering various subjects. Michalske says, “We are fortunate to have many donors who give us large numbers of gently used books for our sale.” Books range in price from $1 for hardcover and quality paperbacks to $.25 for mass paperbacks and all children’s books.

“If you have an interest or just enjoy reading, we have a book for you,” states Michalske.

Money earned at the book sale is returned to the library in the form of grants to purchase equipment or books, and provide children’s programs that the library would not otherwise be able to purchase or run.
