Friends of Peninsula State Park Receive State Farm Grant

Thanks to the volunteer efforts of retired insurance agent John Plume, Friends of Peninsula State Park (FPSP) has received a $500 grant from the State Farm Companies Foundation. This is the fourth year that the foundation has awarded this grant to the Friends.

Plume worked as a ranger at Peninsula and Newport state parks in the late 1960s. Last year, he volunteered at Peninsula clearing brush and litter from the shore. In exchange for service work, State Farm awarded FPSP the grant, which will be used to support park nature education and trail improvements.
