Friends of Rock Island Host Benefit

The Friends of Rock Island will host their 2nd Annual Cookout, Silent Auction & Craft Show on Saturday, July 3 from 10 am – 4 pm on Rock Island. To accommodate visitors, the Karfi Ferry to Rock Island will begin running at 9 am.

Activities will be held in and around the Thordarson Boathouse, including artisan demonstrations and a silent auction that includes gift certificates, camping gear, maritime-themed items, gift baskets, and more. Silent auction results will be announced at 2:15 pm.

Other activities include a free live concert at 12 pm inside the boathouse and tours of Wisconsin’s oldest lighthouse, the Pottawatomie Lighthouse, fully restored by the Friends of Rock Island.

Burgers, Brats, snacks, beverages, and desserts will be available for purchase under the big tent. New 2010 T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, Christmas ornaments, mugs, and lighthouse pins will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the event will be used for maintenance of the boathouse, the ongoing restoration of the lighthouse, and other park projects. For more information visit http://www.fori.com.
