From Design to Weaving

Martinez Studio, the working studio of Wence and Sandra Martinez, is making steady progress on a new 6′ x 7′ weaving of Sandra’s latest design, “Juego.”

The series includes pillows and two smaller works. This new, large weaving will be the centerpiece of the couple’s Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show debut in November. Seeing the small studies, full size cartoon drawing and the weaving in progress is a treat for those who are following the couple’s trajectory in the national spotlight.

Works are also currently showing at the JM Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan and ARTspace at The Shops at Woodlake, with the recent PBS profile piece playing on loop in front of the works. An upcoming Chicago show will present their latest works in September.
