Being bullied as a south-side Milwaukee child can elicit many kinds of responses. Colón’s childhood trials led to the United Community Center boxing program and seven subsequent USA National boxing titles. This same fierce determination to succeed nurtured the virtues of magnanimity, humility, courage, fortitude and temperance – deep-rooted virtues that he continues to embrace as CEO and president of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.Adrian is the author of three nonfiction books, including In Warm Blood: Prison & Privilege, Hurt & Heart, based on her friendship with DarRen Morris, who is currently serving a life sentence in a Wisconsin maximum-security prison. She holds a Ph.D. in adult learning from UW-Madison.
