Frykman Studio Gallery Showing New Art

“Bovine Curiosity,” oil on canvas, by David Frykman.

The Frykman Studio Gallery of Sister Bay is holding a spring opening reception May 8 and 9, the weekend of Sister Bay’s Blossom Festival. The reception will be showcasing new art by Door County artists David Frykman, Heather Harle Frykman, and Lucas Frykman.

David Frykman is known for his whimsical character carvings which he has been creating since 1994. He’s been showing his original wooden carvings at the gallery since 2005. This year, in addition to new wood carvings, the gallery will be showing his new oil paintings on canvas. The paintings are a collection of Door County landscapes and still lifes. Frykman has been painting throughout his artistic career, but this will be the first exhibit of his paintings.

“Lettie Homestead Picnic” by Lucas Frykman.

Heather and Lucas are displaying at least 20 new large photographs including Door County waterscapes, rustic buildings, winter scenes of Door County landmarks, and autumn scenes from Washington Island and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

The opening will be held from 10 am – 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments will be served and a drawing will be held. The artists will be at the gallery, available to visit. For more information, visit http://www.FrykmanGallery.com or call 920.854.7351.
