Full Day of Events with Ron Preston at Pen Park

Join San Carolos Apacyhe and Headman Dancer at Gathering of Nations Ron Preston at Peninsula State Park on July 20, for family friendly programs highlighting Southwestern Indian dance.

Begin the day with a sunrise honor song and blessing at Eagle Terrace. Meet at the Terrace from 6:30 – 7 am. Optional on-your-own breakfast follows at the Golf Clubhouse. At 10 am, at the Nature Center, Preston will present a dance in full regalia, complete with colorful ribbons and loud bells. Park visitors will see several of his sacred artifacts and learn their meanings.

After the performance, from 11 am to 12 pm, visitors are invited to visit learning stations with themes related to traditional uses of plants, Native American games with a modern twist, and art following an Eagle Medicine Walk. Preston will also be featured at a campfire scheduled for 8 – 9 pm.

These events are free and open to the public, with donations appreciated. A state park vehicle sticker is required. For more information, call 920.854.5976.
