Fundraiser for Bruemmer Park Zoo Pheasant Exhibit

The nonprofit Zoological Society of Kewaunee County has been challenged to raise $100,000 to add a large exhibit of ornamental pheasants at Bruemmer Park Zoo, so the society will host a fundraiser June 5, 11 am – 2 pm. It will include burgers, brats, booyah and ice cream. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

This $100,000 challenge is part of a matching donation from Steve Bruemmer, grandson of Leo Bruemmer and great-nephew of Otto Bruemmer, the sons of Kewaunee County Judge Louis Bruemmer, in whose honor Bruemmer Park was named in 1930.

Steve Bruemmer’s donation has already been matched by Kewaunee County, so if the zoological society can also raise $100,000, the exhibit budget’s total will be $300,000. Exhibit organizers would like to break ground in the fall.

To donate, visit bruemmerparkzoo.com or mail a check to (and payable to) the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County, E4280 Cty F, Kewaunee, WI 54216. Visit the zoo at the same address.
