The Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) announced Paige Funkhouser has been hired as Economic Development Manager (EDM) after a search that started in June and covered Wisconsin, multiple states and a Canadian province. Funkhouser begins working full time in the EDM position with DCEDC Sept. 25.
Funkhouser has called Door County home since 2003, when she took a job as a staff reporter with the Door County Advocate after graduating college. She is a California native and graduate of the University of California – Santa Cruz with a bachelor’s degree in literature and journalism. She comes to DCEDC with a professional background in marketing, PR and community development, most recently as Events and Promotions Director for the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center (SBVC). Prior to the SBVC, Funkhouser served as Sister Bay Advancement Association Community Coordinator for six years.
“I am excited to serve the Door County community in this new role,” Funkhouser said. “I look forward to tackling the opportunities and challenges facing Door County now and in the near future. I’m ready to help DCEDC’s efforts to improve the economic vitality of the county and its residents.”
“We were incredibly fortunate to have so many quality professionals apply for the position, including many qualified local candidates,” said DCEDC Executive Director Caleb Frostman. “With Paige’s professional background in community development and strong leadership skills, we are elated to have her join the DCEDC. We are confident that Paige’s presence will have a significant impact on our organization and the greater community almost immediately.”
