Ephraim Bonfires, Beer Fest & More Weekend Plans

Summer is in full swing in Door County. Drink and be merry in Baileys Harbor at the Door County Beer Festival featuring live music, as much beer as you can drink, and food stands from some of Door County’s best restaurants. Join Ephraim in shooing away the winter spirits at their village-wide festival, Fyr Bal. In case you were looking for some time away from the crowds, we’ve included a few other activities we think are great alternatives. Happy weekending!

Friday, June 16

Bloomsday Celebration

Those with a passion for literature may recognize June 16 as the date which the events of James Joyce’s famous novel Ulysses took place. Join Write On, Door County in Sturgeon Bay for a day of writing adventures, including collective stream-of-consciousness writing, kids’ games at Sawyer park, and a limerick pub crawl.

Passion For Beer

What goes better with beer than more beer? Start off Beer Fest weekend with a stop at Sister Bay’s Bier Zot for a night inspired by Almanac Brewing Company, complete with featured flights, beer-infused bites, and prizes to win out at the Beach Bar.

The Actuary

Peninsula Players premieres their newest offering this weekend. Written by Steven Peterson and directed by Kevin Christopher Fox, this story about love and family is packed with humor and twists. Join the Pen Players in their garden theater for a night of family fun.

Saturday, June 17

Kevin Van Ess and The Talk of the Town

Sturgeon Bay cellist and music series organizer Kim Souther welcomes the swing/dixieland jazz group to her Back Porch Sessions in Sturgeon Bay. Kevin Van Ess’s fiery clarinet playing will bring a touch of the turn of the 20th century to Door County farmland.

Fyr Bal Festival

Ephraim’s 53rd midsummer festival will welcome live music, food and village tours to celebrate the tradition of the village founded by Norwegians in 1853. Featuring eating contests, fireworks and a spectacular bonfire to round out the night, Fyr Bal will light up Eagle Harbor.

Door County Beer Fest

The Quiet Side erupts this weekend. Craft beer, culinary prowess, and live music own the day. Join us in celebrating our 6th annual celebration of all things wonderful by purchasing a day pass including a tasting glass with unlimited refills. 12-4 pm.

Door County League Baseball

Door County loves its baseball. Come watch the locals as village is pitted against village in this summer-long league.

Door County Kinetic Arts Festival Best of the Fest

After a week of collaboration, DKAF is wrapping up with a screening of the favorite short films of the festival. Stop by Björklunden to enjoy kinetic arts at their finest.

Midsummer’s Music Festival

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ephraim is hosting an afternoon of String Quintets with the theme, “The German Spirit.” Works by Eberl, Mozart, and Raff.
