Gallery 42 Announces “Art and Music Jams” Schedule

G42 (Gallery 42) will continue its popular fusion of visual and audible art this season with its “Art and Music Jams.” It’s the performance art experiment where guest musicians (most of them accomplished jazz players) play while G42 owner Tim Nyberg faces a large empty canvas, closes his eyes, listens to the music, and waits for an image to come to mind. He grabs a hold of the first idea and starts flinging paint.

The schedule for the upcoming season entails:

• Friday, June 11, 4 – 5:30 pm: Andrea Wittgens, keyboard and vocals

• Saturday, July 3, 2 – 4 pm: The Jana Nyberg Group, instrumental jazz with vocals

• Sunday, July 11, 1 – 3 pm: Lulu’s Playground, instrumental jazz/experimental music

• Sunday, July 18, 1 – 3 pm: Electronic Techno Art Jam

• Sunday, July 25, 1 – 3 pm: Woody Mankowski

• Sunday, August 1, 1 – 3 pm: TBA

• Sunday, August 8, 1 – 3 pm: TBA

• Sunday, August 15, 1 – 3 pm: The Jana Nyberg Group, instrumental jazz with vocals

• Sunday, August 22, 1 – 3 pm: TBA

• Sunday, August 29, 1 – 3 pm: Lee Tomboulian

During Memorial Day Weekend Sturgeon Bay will be hosting the annual Fine Art Fair at Sunset Park, and across town G42 will feature Nyberg demonstrating acrylic painting techniques and talking about his work. Over 200 paintings are available to view and purchase. Special hours for the weekend are Friday, noon – 5 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm, and Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm.
