Gallery of the DCAL Artist Demonstrations

Door County Art League artist Pat Olson will be demonstrating acrylic painting during business hours on Friday, June 13, at the Gallery of the Door County Art League, located at the Top of the Hill Shops, Highway 42 and County F in Fish Creek. Olson, who works in pastels and acrylics, plans to demonstrate her whimsical approach by painting one of her fantasy farms.

On Thursday, June 19, Barbara Kenyon, awarded Volunteer of the Year by the DCAL, will be demonstrating watercolor painting. Describing her work as traditional and sometimes very realistic, Kenyon enjoys preserving old barns through her artwork.

On Saturday, June 21, fellow League member Marjory Allingham will be demonstrating Bauernmalerei, folk painting that originated in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Allingham has been practicing Bauernmalerei since 1976. She uses acrylic paints to decorate wooden objects, including furniture, doors, kitchen cupboards, mantelpieces, and ceiling beams.

Gallery manager Jane Delcarson plans to have a number of other demonstrations by league artists throughout the season. Upcoming artists working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastels include Sally Everhardus, Audrey Off, Sally Berner, Bev Branson, and Penny Pfister.

The Door County Art League is comprised of painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, photographers, fabric artists, and more. All types of original art produced by 38 League members are on display and available for sale at the gallery. Business hours are Thursday through Monday, 10am until 5pm.
