Gallery of the Unitarian Fellowship Features Jan Forkert

The Unitarian Universalist Art Gallery of Ephraim will display a retrospective of Jan Forkert’s artwork, showing a long career as an eclectic artist. The exhibit will run from June 6 – 28, with an artist’s reception June 13 from 12 – 2 pm.

Growing up, Forkert learned the fine art of silversmith from her father’s example and later branched into enameling and painting by her mother’s example. She challenged herself into using these disciplines together, forging three-dimensional forms from silver sheet metal, enameling them and superimposing them onto watercolor paintings making composite creations.

As Director of The Peninsula Art School her interests became more diverse and she has branched into printmaking, mixed media paintings, three-dimensional and two-dimensional enameled landscapes, sculptured wall hangings and centerpieces. Currently she is creating a series of free standing sculptures inspired by forms found in nature.

Her current artwork is shown at Fine Line Design Gallery in Ephraim.

The Gallery of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at the south end of the Shops of Green Gables, 10341 Highway 42, north of Ephraim. Regular gallery hours are Sundays from 11 am – 12:15 pm and Mondays, 1 – 3 pm. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org.
