The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Gallery’s new textile show – Following Twisted Paths, on display until July 28 – features works by Alison Gates, who came to Wisconsin in 2001 to teach in UW-Green Bay’s Fibers in the Art Program.
Gates is interested in the interplay of words and images in contemporary society and how that interplay relates historically to subversive messages women passed to each other through stitching during times when they could not, or would not, communicate directly.
The UU Gallery, 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim, is open Tuesday through Friday, 1-4 pm; and Sunday, 11 am – 12 pm. Call 920.854.7559 to learn more.
