Gathering Ground, Write On Host Creative Retreat

Gathering Ground and Write On, Door County will partner to present a two-day, nature-based creative retreat with Kimberly Blaeser, former Wisconsin poet laureate; and printmakers Nancy Aten and Dan Collins. It will be held all day and into the evening of July 9 and 10 at Washington Island’s Gathering Ground and Hotel Washington.

Inspired by the island’s natural beauty, participants will explore and create ekphrasis: the poetry of vivid description of place or art. Blaeser will lead participants in seeing, exploring and articulating nature through poetry, and Collins and Aten will guide them through visual interpretation using natural materials and monotype printmaking.

Tuition is $200, and Write On members will receive a 10% discount. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. Retreat organizers encourage participants to reserve accommodations as soon as possible. Learn more and register at writeondoorcounty.org.
