Get Out There to Enjoy Cherry Season

by Jen Rogers and Cambria Mueller

Door County Visitor Bureau

It’s cherry season! Summer has finally stayed around long enough for the cherry trees to produce their long-awaited fruit. Did you know that Door County is the fourth-largest producer of cherries in the nation? Amazing, right? As locals, we sometimes take the beautiful process of cherry season for granted, and if you do, too, do yourself a favor: Grab your family or friends and head out to one of the county’s many cherry orchards to participate in the pick-your-own experience. It’s quite the adventure! If you need advice about orchards near you, call 920.743.4456 and let our knowledgeable visitor-information staff members assist you.

Last month at the Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB), we were “thinking winter” for our winter guide, which will be coming out Labor Day weekend. This month we’re “thinking 2020”: evaluating how the spring and summer campaigns have done, compiling goals, considering projects and initiatives, and preparing for our 2020 strategic planning. The finished strategic plan will be presented to DCVB’s board of directors in November.
