Get Ready for Swim Season

As swim season approaches, the Door County YMCA encourages children and parents in Door County to explore the many benefits of swimming, while also keeping safety top of mind. In the Y’s swim programs, participants can enjoy water sports, enhance or learn new techniques, meet new friends and develop confidence, while learning safety skills that can save lives.

In addition to learning lifesaving water safety skills, children can increase their physical activity by swimming. Swimming also motivates children to strive for self-improvement, teaches goal orientation and cultivates a positive mental attitude and high self-esteem. It also teaches life lesson of sportsmanship, so children can learn how to work well with teammates, coaches and how to deal with winning and losing.

The Door County YMCA will hold Super Swim Weeks again this summer, starting June 23. They are a great way to efficiently learn how to swim safely. Each week will be packed with a session’s worth of swim lessons, but are only an hour a day. Since Door County is surrounded by water, the Door County YMCA wants to make sure everyone in the county knows how to swim. To ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate, financial assistance is available to cover the cost of the class.
