GHS Students Receive Academic Awards

Gibraltar High School recently announced AP Scholar Awards, the National Merit Scholarship finalist, and scholarship awardees. Seventeen students at Gibraltar High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.

Makenna Ash and Mikayla Kifer qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Emma Alberts, Matthew Andersen, Christopher Anderson, Makenna Ash, Evan Board, Ian Hoffman, Shelby Kahr and Mikayla Kifer qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Oliver Hansen and Christopher Mydra qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Benjamin Bruns, Olivia Dahl, Elizabeth Glabe, Helen Hecht, Jacob Kordon, Lillian McDonald and Casey Michelic qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher.

Ian Hoffman, son of Richard and Jeannie Hoffman, has advanced to Finalist standing in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 1.4 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Approximately 15,000 have advanced to the Finalist level. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this group of Finalists.
