Gibraltar and the Town of Egg Harbor Adopted Budgets

• On Nov. 18, the Town of Egg Harbor board adopted a 2014 budget of $764,932 – or 9.09 percent lower than the town’s 2013 budget of $841,455. The greatest reduction in the 2014 budget comes from the roads fund, which at $396,345 is 18.6 percent lower than 2013’s $486,806. The town levy was set at $459,382, or .48 percent more than last year’s levy of $457,144. The budget items can be seen at the town website, townofeggharbor.org.

• On Nov. 14, the Gibraltar Town Board adopted a 2014 budget of $2,473,382.64, or 7.4 percent higher than the $2,302,760.41 budget of 2013. While the expenditures for several big ticket items such as general government ($461,069.43 as opposed to 2013’s $470,294.07) and public works ($707,609.20 compared to 2013’s $781,886.41) are lower, debt service is nearly $80,000 more than in last year’s budget ($382,579.88 vs. $460,026.69), and the town is responsible for the Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport expenses ($144,955) in this budget cycle. The town levy was set at $1,568,166.70, or 13.20 percent higher than in the 2013 budget ($1,385,279.53).
