Gibraltar Claims Baseball Crown

Somewhere, Chief is smiling at a new generation of “dinks.”

The Packerland Conference Champion Gibraltar Vikings.

The Gibraltar Vikings locked up the Packerland Conference Baseball Championship with a 13 – 2 win over Kewaunee last night in Fish Creek.

It’s Gibraltar’s first baseball title since 1988, when legendary coach Rod “Chief” Billerbeck won the final crown of an unsurpassed career.

The undefeated Vikings (14-0 overall, 12-0 in conference) were again led by stellar pitching from Will Henriksen, who threw a complete game with nine strikeouts. Tanner Biwer added two hits and four RBIs, Tyler Hanusa had a double, and Tom Sawyer had two RBIs.

Gibraltar plays Gillett in a doubleheader at Fish Creek Saturday. The game starts at 11am.
