The Gibraltar girls track team made school history Monday, winning its first ever Packerland Conference championship.
“Track is a numbers sport,” said coach Paul Bremel. “We finally have good numbers and a lot of quality athletes within those numbers.”
The team won the Conference Relay meet for the first time this year as well. At Monday’s meet the girls 4×100 meter relay team broke the conference meet record, running in 4:13.64. Rychia Bosman set a school record this season in the pole vault, clearing 9’6″, while Ashley Aune set the 400 meter mark in 1:00.64.
The team competes in regionals May 24, with sectionals on May 27 and the state meet June 4 – 5.
