Gibraltar Grill Music Fest

On Saturday, June 28, the 2008 Music Fest at the Gibraltar Grill begins. Through Labor Day the Gibraltar Grill will be providing 27 free concerts on its patio with performances usually beginning at 8 pm and running until approximately 10:30 pm. The Gibraltar Grill’s music line-up for 2008 is sure to provide great entertainment for the entire family!

Kicking off this annual event on June 28 will be Cookee, who has performed for over twenty-five years with some of the great legends of rock and roll music. Originally from Colorado, Cookee, a longtime friend of John Denver, plays many of his songs in tribute to his old friend.

Also returning this season is Mark Szmanda whose music for “the heart and soul” on acoustic guitar and in verse is a patio favorite. Szmanda plays many James Taylor tunes, and is occasionally accompanied by his daughters.

Back by popular demand are the talented teenagers from the Birch Creek Student Jazz Ensemble. The students are in residence at the world-renowned Birch Creek Music Performance Center for several weeks of serious study and strenuous performing in a variety of venues in Door County, including four performances at the Gibraltar Grill.

The blues duo, Blue & Gray, will be performing the music of Muddy Waters, as well as their own original music, four nights on the patio again this summer.

Three new additions to this year’s Music Fest include the jazz trio, Uptown; the wonderful contemporary folk singer on guitar, Melanie Spector; and Nicki Sims on guitar.
