Gibraltar Hosts Solo and Ensemble Festival

Area students will participate in a District Solo and Ensemble Music Festival sanctioned by the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) and hosted at Gibraltar High School on Feb. 16. During the festival, which is free and open to the public, students will perform vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios and in small ensembles before an adjudicator.

Such WSMA music festivals annually attract thousands of students from middle, junior high and high schools throughout the state, and this one will host students from area schools including Gibraltar, Sevastopol and Sturgeon Bay. Gibraltar High School’s music director, Charles Eckhardt, will serve as the festival manager.

“WSMA is proud of the quality music-education experiences that we support teachers in providing for their students,” said WSMA Executive Director Laurie Fellenz. “Our long-standing festival programs encourage well-rounded musicians who develop deeper understanding through performance preparation that culminates in comprehensive feedback from a qualified adjudicator.”
