The Gibraltar Music Boosters seek to add a keyboard lab and the necessary equipment to support their already popular music education programs.

“We have one of the highest music program participation rates in Wisconsin,” says Lauren Gilmore, director of Choral Music at Gibraltar Area Schools. Doubling the national average, Gibraltar Schools looks to continue this level of excellence. The Gibraltar Music Boosters seek to raise $35,000 by the 2013-2014 school year. Funds raised will purchase 15 – 20 digital pianos to create a keyboard lab. The newly created keyboard lab will be used for choir, AP Music Theory, and students that excel in piano and K – 8th grade music.

While the Gibraltar Music Boosters fundraise throughout the year, including concessions for the Peninsula Music Festival, the annual Spaghetti Jazz Dinner, Cabaret and other events, they are appealing to community members for help in reaching their $35,000 goal.

To kick-off the fundraising efforts, local singer/songwriter Jessica Holland and Chad Luberger of American Folklore Theatre will perform alongside Gibraltar alumni at a concert on March 3 from 1 – 5 pm at St. Rosalia’s Stella Maris Church in Sister Bay. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. There will be a silent auction with donations from Door County businesses, restaurants and artists.

Supporters can purchase tickets to the concert at the door or through Gibraltar Students. To purchase advanced tickets, call Mari Grenchik at 920.868.3284 ext. 258.
