The Gibraltar Board of Supervisors selected Brian Merkel – a former supervisor and former chair – to take Steve Sohns’ seat on the town board. Sohns was previously chosen to take Dick Skare’s seat as town chair after Skare resigned mid-term due to health issues. The terms of both positions run through April 2021.
Board members had expressed interest in selecting a board member with experience in the position because of the number of long-term projects that are underway in the town at a time when Skare and supervisor Barb McKesson will be leaving the board.
The Department of Transportation will be continuing work on the reconstruction of Highway 42 in Fish Creek this spring and fall, which will include the most disruptive phase of the project.
