Gibraltar: School’s out Friday for State Hoops

Gibraltar Area School board on Monday approved giving students, teachers and staff members Friday off to support the Vikings at the state tournament.

“There’s been a high school on this site since 1919, and it’s about time we won state in boys basketball,” board president Stephen Seyfer said.

He said the district would send the team and a pep band to the tournament on Thursday and the district office would organize student and fan buses.

Board members urged everyone to cheer on the team and to travel and socialize safely.

“I had the honor and privilege of coaching these boys in middle school and wish them well on Friday and Saturday,” said board member Don Helm.
