Gibraltar Senior Completes Firefighting Program

Emmaly Bertges, a senior at Gibraltar High School, has completed NWTC’s Public Safety Education entry-level firefighting program and intends to put her new certification to use during her summer breaks from college.

Bertges will graduate summa cum laude while also participating in track and volleyball and serving as an officer on the Student Council and for the National Honor Society. In the fall, she will take her talents to UW-Madison to major in biology.

Bertges, the daughter of a firefighter, volunteered as a junior firefighter starting her freshman year of high school. She said what draws her most to the fire service is the opportunity to serve her community.
