Gibraltar Talks…

The Gibraltar Historical Association’s monthly historic talk series begins on Thursday, May 13 at 7:30 pm at Gibraltar’s Old Town Hall located on the corner of Spruce and Maple Streets in Fish Creek.

The first program of the season, “75 Years of Comedy and Tragedy,” will be presented by Audra Baakari Boyle, Business Manager for the Peninsula Players, America’s oldest professional summer theatre.

The theatre opened its first show, Noel Coward’s Hay Fever, on July 25, 1935 behind the Bonnie Brook Cottage/Motel, which is now Fish Creek Park. With a small friendly audience, a youthful and talented cast, and the determined Fisher family, the Peninsula Players were born. Since 1935 and the theatre’s opening performance, the Players have been entertaining, educating, and uplifting loyal audiences.

The Players has a history which is as captivating as the plays staged at the theatre during the past 74 years. Patrons have returned year after year, drawn by the theatre’s tradition of providing exceptional productions in a serene location overlooking the waters of Green Bay.

The public is invited to hear the history of the Peninsula Players come to life at the first Gibraltar Talks program of the season. Programs are free, but free will donations are always appreciated to help with future programming. For more information call 920.868.2091 or 920.868.3373.
