Gibraltar’s Schultz Earns Soccer Success

Devan Schultz of Fish Creek, and her FC Green Bay U-16 Girls State league soccer teammates, returned from the Madison area as Champions of the Waunakee Cup Soccer Tournament held August 22 – 23.

FC Green Bay competed against State League soccer teams from Elm Grove, Madison, Waunakee and Middleton. The FC U-16 team, made up of players from around Northeast Wisconsin, won the championship game in an overtime shoot out.

Devan Schultz of Gibraltar saw success in AAU soccer.

In their debut season with the State League last fall, the team was the First Division Champions in their age group with a record of 6–0–2, moving the team into the Premier Division this fall. Schultz, a sophomore at Gibraltar High School, trains three days a week in Green Bay and plays on weekends throughout the fall. Her team will compete in the Wisconsin State Cup tournament this September in Stevens Point and will travel to St. Louis in October for a college showcase tournament.

Schultz also represented the state of Wisconsin at Northern Illinois University in July for the US Region II Olympic Development camp and tournament. Schultz also participates in cross–country, basketball, and high school soccer in the spring.
