Gifts for Jacksonport Fans

Looking for holiday gifts? The Jacksonport Historical Society offers Fred Erskine: Jacksonport’s Photographer and Jacksonport through the Generations at special prices through Dec. 24.

Fred Erskine photographed people and scenes in Jacksonport from 1910 through the 1980s, and those images have been compiled in the 112-page Fred Erskine: Jacksonport’s Photographer. The photo collection features Jacksonport’s early industries of lumbering, commercial fishing, and farming, and businesses that came and went over the decades. The collection also captures what life was like, highlighting Fred’s family and Jacksonport’s families Reynolds, Grovogel, Cote and many others. This book is priced at just $50 per copy, plus shipping and handling if mailed, now through Dec. 24.

Jacksonport through the Generations is a nine-volume, soft-cover series created by The Jacksonport Historical Society. Families in the township were encouraged to present their family histories at monthly meetings. Families eagerly told their fascinating stories through pictures and music, through recorded voices of parents and grandparents, and through their own recollections. These programs were video-recorded, stories were written by family members, photos shared, and then published in this series of books. Through Dec. 24, the entire series is available for $155 (plus shipping and handling if mailed) and you may choose an additional copy of the volume of your choice at no charge.

Books may be purchased at Bley’s Grocery in Jacksonport, Jacksonporthistoricalsociety.org, or reserved for pickup by calling 920.743.6415 or 920.823.2355.
