Girls Softball: Pioneers Take Two from Blazers

Sevastopol’s softball team dominated Tuesday’s Packerland Conference home doubleheader against NEW Lutheran.

In game one, the Pioneers shut out the Blazers in five innings, 10-0.

Of Sevastopol’s eight hits, Jolene Luedtke, Addison Schauske and Addison Sawyer tallied two apiece. Naomi Rikkola homered, with Taylor Kochanski adding a single.

Schauske pitched four innings to record the win, allowing two hits with a walk while striking out seven. Libby Ash pitched an inning in relief and struck out two.

The Pioneers won the second game in five innings, 20-1.

Schauske batted 2-4 with a home run and drove in four runs. Rikkola also went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Ash doubled and had 4 RBI. Luedtke also doubled. Brynn Schartner added a single.

Ash pitched all five innings and recorded the victory, allowing one hit with nine strikeouts.

Sevastopol, which improved its conference record to 8-2, hosts its next league doubleheader Thursday against Kewaunee.
