Glenn Miller Orchestra Brings Christmas Show to DCA

It’ll be a big band holiday at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) when the Glenn Miller Orchestra fills the main stage Dec. 11, 7 pm.

Though the celebrated bandleader Glenn Miller died in a plane crash in the 1940s, his legendary big band never stopped playing – and it’s now been performing for more than eight decades.

At DCA, the dynamic ensemble will put its unmistakable stamp on holiday hits such as “Home for the Holidays,” “White Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas,” as well as orchestra classics such as “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Moonlight Serenade” and “In the Mood.”

Glenn Miller himself famously declared, “A band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have a personality.”

His namesake orchestra’s one-of-a-kind sound and personality will certainly be on full display at DCA during a performance made possible with support from major sponsors Newport Resort and Wisconsin Public Radio, and from supporting sponsors the Cordon Family Foundation and Door County Medical Center.

Tickets ($35-$58) are available online at dcauditorium.org, by phone at 920.868.2728, or in person at the box office, 3926 Hwy 42 in Fish Creek. Audience members are encouraged to visit dcauditorium.org to review the current COVID-19 protocols.

DCA is a drop site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program and welcomes donations of new, unopened toys for children of all ages.
