Gloria Drummond to Speak at Door County Art League Meeting

“Evening Stroll” by Sally Berner.

On Monday, August 23 at 7 pm the Door County Art League monthly meeting will feature Gloria Drummond. Taking place at the Gibraltar Fire Department room, Drummond will discuss issues that arise after the death of an artist – essentially, what do you do with the work they leave behind?

Drummond’s husband died in 2003, leaving a body of work 50 years in the making that includes paintings, drawings, and sculpture, along with poetry and essays. She will discuss his art and how her and her family dealt with its conservation or disposal.

Also, the Door County Art League will feature artists Sally Berner and Sherry Mutchler for the week beginning August 22 at their gallery located in the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek.

Berner has been painting oils, her main medium, for nearly 25 years. Her main themes are animals, though she also enjoys working on still life, landscape, and plein air painting.

A watercolorist, Mutchler attempts to create a sense of curiosity in her viewers while expanding the use of brighter colors and contrasts.

The gallery, open 10 am – 5 pm daily, is located on County F and Spring Road in Fish Creek. A reception is planned for the fourth Saturday of each month from 3 – 5 pm. For more information visit http://www.doorcountyartleague.org or call 920.559.7530. The gallery phone number is 920.868.2288.
