Grammy-award Winner Featured at White Gull Concert

Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore will be featured in concert at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek on Dec. 11 at 8 pm.

Grammy award-winner Mollie O’Brien became known to the rest of the world as a singer’s singer when, in 1988, she and her brother Tim released the first of three critically-acclaimed albums. Eventually, Mollie recorded five equally well-received solo albums. Additionally, she was a regular on the nationally syndicated radio show A Prairie Home Companion from 2001 through 2005.

O’Brien has lately been performing as a duo with her husband Rich Moore, a staple of the Colorado music scene for many years. Not only is Moore known to produce some of the funniest onstage running commentary, he’s also a powerhouse guitar player who can keep up with O’Brien’s twists and turns from blues to traditional folk to jazz to rock and roll.

O’Brien and Moore’s first duet CD, a live recording titled 900 Baseline, was released in 2006. In January 2014, they’ll release their follow-up, Love Runner.

An optional pre-concert fixed price dinner, available for $19.95, will be served at 6 pm. The menu features red wine braised short ribs served over herbed spätzle, green salad with roasted beets, Chèvre and crusty French bread. The featured dessert is caramelized pear upside-down gingerbread with brandied whipped cream.

Other winter concerts include: Johnsmith (Jan. 22), Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line (Feb. 19), Rita Hosking (March 12) and Red Molly (April 9).

Tickets for the concert are $16, and dinner is $19.95. Advance ticket purchase and reservations are recommended; if available tickets will be available at the door. For tickets call 920. 868.3517 or visit whitegullinn.com.
