Grant Supports Peninsula Transit Coalition

Door-Tran has received a $2,500 grant from the Door County Community Foundation to support the Peninsula Transit Coalition’s continuing investigation of the feasibility of an expanded, countywide public-transportation system.

Since early 2019, a group of local residents and business owners has been studying options for a bus system that would operate in addition to existing transportation options such as Door-Tran, Door 2 Door Rides and ADRC services. Transit specialist Sophie Parr of Civic 4, a community planning organization, interviewed key stakeholders to determine service goals, then worked with the coalition to create routes, schedules and logistics.

The grant is made possible in part through a partnership with Door-Tran to collaborate on potential funding and assessing transportation needs.

The Peninsula Transit Coalition includes Myles Dannhausen Jr., Mike Holmes, Kathy Wagner, Nikki Voight, Pam Busch, Louise Howson, Dave Eliot, Miluzka McCarthy, Steve Grutzmacher and Sophie Parr. Email Louise Howson at [email protected] to learn more about the coalition.
