Grant to Fund Fab Labs

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Southern Door School District to expand the equipment in its elementary and middle school fabrication laboratories (fab labs).

These labs help students learn high-demand skills in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). They also benefit state employers, who will be able to find workers with the right skills to help their companies thrive, according to Missy Hughes, WEDC secretary and CEO.

The grants help districts purchase equipment such as laser engravers, computer numerical control routers, plasma cutters and 3D printers for instructional purposes.
