‘Gray’s Anatomy,’ ‘Lungs’ at Third Avenue Playhouse

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) has added two special runs of Gray’s Anatomy, starring Doug Mancheski. The show returns to the stage July 8 and 10, both shows at 7:30 pm.

In middle age, Spalding Gray has entered “the Bermuda Triangle of Health,” that place where the body begins to break down in alarming and humiliating ways. Gray embarks on a crazed crusade for wellness that takes him from a Native American sweat lodge to a dictatorial nutritionist and, finally, to a gory session with the “Elvis Presley of psychic surgeons” in the Far East. Tickets are $28 for general admission and $12 for students.

TAP brings their new show, Lungs, to the stage June 28 – July 21. Lungs is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising lifecycle of their relationship as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love. This show contains strong language and frank discussions of sex.

Shows are at 7:30 pm Wednesday through Saturday, with matinees at 2 pm on Sunday. Special performances are on July 3 and 19, with no show July 4. June 27 is their pay-what-you-can preview night, starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $28 for general admission and $12 for students.
