Greco Gallery Hosts Artists Reception and Spring Open House

Sculpture by Chuck Swagel.

The artists of Greco Gallery, “an artistic boutique” on Sturgeon Bay’s historic Third Avenue, invite the public to view their recent work at an artists reception and spring open house on May 25, 5 – 8 pm. The event also welcomes three artists to the group: potter Linda Sheard of Lily Bay Pottery, photographer Ty Helbach and garden art creator Chuck Swagel.

Sheard creates urns, mugs, plates, vases and even pins in natural tones, with textured surface designs influenced by nature and architecture.

Helbach, a Wisconsin native and recent Door County transplant, is inspired by nature and music. His interest in photography began ten years ago.

Swagel started composing his garden creatures to keep busy after being laid off from the shipyard. He uses all types of scrap metal to fabricate grasshoppers and one-of-a-kind gazing ball stands.

Other Greco artists and their wares include: Helen Bacon & Martha Bennett, silk scarves, ties, pillows, tops, jewelry, ribbons; Melissa Clark, Pretty War jewelry line; Samantha Kerwin, jewelry with a vintage feel; Bethany Kirwen, paintings; Martha Coaty, photography; Karen De Noto, paintings; Faith Frykman, paintings; Barbara Sweeney, watercolors; Susan Hoffmann, fabric art; and Kelly Avenson, portrait photographer.

The gallery has added a hall devoted to small prints and cards with images of the artists‘ work, and garden art in the gallery courtyard is coming soon. The courtyard will also host a limited number of live music events this summer; be on the lookout for shows and dates.

Greco Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays by chance. For more information call 920.743.5000 or visit
