Greco Gallery Hosts Summer Reception and BMP Benefit

Greco Gallery will host a Summer Artists Reception and Benefit on Sept. 7 from 5 – 9 pm. This event will also by the opening of the Greco Courtyard and Stage with Elliot Goettelman and Friends playing Caribbean-themed music.

The gallery is the collaboration of 12 Door County artists, and they invite the public to join them in assisting the Blue Mountain Project (BMP) of Jamaica.

The Blue Mountain Project is dedicated to working with the people of Hagley Gap, a small coffee-farming village located in the hills of Jamaica’s Blue Mountains. The organization encourages education, clean water, health, and sustainability. BMP’s current priority is to provide schooling for the village’s children; $100 can send 24 children to school for an entire year.

Gallery founder Kelly Avenson and Jess Adams have spent time volunteering with the organization, and are currently board members. Photographs of their time spent in Hagley Gap will be on display, with 100 percent of the sales going to BMP.

Other artists showing new work include award-winning painters Mac Schueppert, Bethany Kirwen, Karen DeNoto and Pat Olson; jewelry artists Jessa & Natalie Lemke, Samantha Kerwin, Melissa Clark and Martha Bennett; and greeting card artist Martha Bennett. Helen Bacon will bring hand-dyed silk scarves and Daniel Anderson will display black and white images.
