Greco Gallery Hosts Winter Open House

“Potawatomi Park,” oil painting by Mary Bosman.

Sturgeon Bay’s Greco Gallery invites the public to an artists’ reception and winter open house on Nov. 22, 5 – 8 pm. Meet the artists who belong to this noncommissioned, cooperative gallery, view their latest work, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. This event also welcomes two new member artists, Pete and Mary Bosman, as well as guest artist Dean Hoegger.

Pete is a sculptor and carver who works in wood, terracotta clay, and cast stone. Best-known for his internationally-collected bird carvings, he has recently branched out into sculpting people in clay.

Mary is an award-winning painter who specializes in oil, pastel, and gouache; what attracts her most when choosing her subject matter is a “luminous quality of light.”

A Door County ceramic artist, Hoegger has exhibited throughout the Midwest since 1976. His clay work ranges from wheel thrown porcelain vessels to hand-built raku sculptures. Hoegger is also known for his floor-sized wheel thrown vessels with decorative handles, some measuring over three feet high, and for his layering of glazes and etched designs.

During this event, Greco Gallery promotes their campaign “Art is Love” in an effort to encourage giving the gift of art for the holidays.

Greco Gallery is located between the two bookstores on Sturgeon Bay’s Historic Third Avenue. The gallery is open 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday; 10 am to 5:30 pm Friday and Saturday; and Sundays by chance. For more information call 920.743.5000 or visit grecogallerycoop.com.
