Greco Gallery Introduces New Artists at Holiday Open House

A painting by Faith Frykman, one of the new artists exhibiting works at Greco Gallery.

Greco Gallery will host their Holiday Open House & Welcome Reception on Dec. 6, 5 – 8 pm, with warm cider, treats and holiday cheer. The artists who exhibit in the gallery would like the public to stop by and enjoy what they have created over the past few months. The reception also celebrates the gallery’s expansion and addition of new artists—Barbara Sweeney, Faith Frykman and Susan Hoffman.

Sweeney is a self-taught watercolorist that is inspired by Door County—the landscapes, flowers, barns, trees, cows and water. Sweeney states, “ The exploration of color using watercolors is a journey that takes me into a world which is gentle, quiet, joyful and exciting.”

Frykman’s abstract oil paintings are saturated with color and bursting with energy, motion and emotion. Frykman uses vibrant colors, creates interesting textures, adds gestural lines, and reworks the image until the painting reveals the “ah-ha” moment.

Hoffmann began exploring fiber arts ten years ago, and works within a broad definition of fiber. Her latest passion is landscape quilting; she discovered the end result looks like a watercolor painting that should be framed. Hoffman’s goal is “ to create art that represents the world around me in a realistic way, using fabrics to fool the eye.”
