Greens N Grains will be screening The Story of the Weeping Camel, an Oscar-nominated documentary, on March 10 at 7 pm as apart of the Greens N Grains Thursday Night Film Series.
The film was written and directed by two student filmmakers, Byambasuren Davaa and Luigi Falorni, about a family of nomadic shepherds in the Gobi Desert, South Mongolia. To restore harmony between a mother camel and her calf, the nomadic family calls upon the services of group of lamas who perform a ritual with bread or dough ‘effigies’ of the mother, the calf and the individual members of the family.
The film is a blend of classic documentary filmmaking created with “reality actors,” under the direction of Davaa and Falorni, on a mission to deliver a glimpse of the history, art, magic and spiritual dimensions of a distant and remote culture. The filmmakers overcame tremendous natural and geographic obstacles to make the film.
Greens N Grains Deli, located at 7821 Highway 42, will host a natural and organic dinner special each evening before the screening, available from 6 pm on. There is no charge to attend the screening, though seating is limited to 30 people. For more information call 920.868.9999 or email [email protected].
