Greens N Grains Screens “Pink Ribbons, Inc.”

More than 20 years ago, Charlotte Haley began a peach-colored ribbon campaign to urge the National Cancer Institute to increase its budget for cancer prevention research, from a mere five percent.

When she was approached by Self magazine and cosmetics company Estée Lauder in 1992 to use her ribbons in a breast cancer awareness campaign she refused. So the companies changed the color to pink.

On Feb. 21 at 7 pm, Greens N Grains Cafe and the Green Door Film Society will screen Pink Ribbons, Inc. The film reveals how breast cancer fundraising may boost corporate profits and brand awareness more than it benefits people with the disease.

The free screening will be held at Greens ‘N Grains Natural Food Store and Cafe in Egg Harbor, where an organic dinner will be offered for $7.50 at 6 pm. Seating is limited to 28. For reservations call 920.868.9999 or email [email protected].

Greens N Grains Café, located at 7821 Highway 42, is open daily 10 am – 4 pm, and until 9 pm on movie nights.
