Griffon String Quartet Receives Packers Foundation Grant

The Green Bay Packers Foundation has chosen Midsummer’s Music’s resident string quartet, the Griffon String Quartet, to receive a grant supporting its outreach work in Green Bay.

The quartet works with youth through the highly interactive Einstein Series for school-aged children. Quartet members give private and group lessons, and they visit schools to perform and discuss string quartet music, relating it to relevant topics in the students’ lives.

The quartet’s B Double Sharp program presents mini concerts for those who are aging or disabled and their caregivers. Working especially with people who have Alzheimer’s and dementia, the quartet creates a welcoming atmosphere where people can share their thoughts about aging or memory loss.

Free Gather with the Griffon concerts for seniors are held monthly at First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay, and the quartet performs for Brown County Memory Cafés.These community performances demystify chamber music and create an experiential bridge from short presentations to full classical concerts.
