Growing Older in Door County Artwork Unveiling

The Door County Community Foundation (DCCF) invites the community to a public reception for the unveiling of the Discuss Door County: Growing Older in Door County Community Statement. The reception is May 9, 5 – 7 pm, at Hope United Church in Sturgeon Bay. The Final Report and artwork will be unveiled.

Discuss Door County is the banner under which the Door County Community Foundation listens to the community. Throughout 2016, the community gathered together to share their aspirations and visions for us as we grow older together as part of Discuss Door County: Growing Older in Door County.

This event is the opening of art submitted by approximately 24 artists who took the opportunity to potentially benefit a local charity of the artist’s choice through a donation by DCCF if the artist’s work was selected for the final report. The art will be the exhibition at the Hope Church Art Alcoves Gallery through mid-June.

One artist’s work that will grace the cover of the Growing Older in Door County report is the portrait compilation by Door County artist Archelle “Buttons” Wolst. She said, “Faces fascinate me. The opportunity to do a painting for ‘Discuss Door County’ offered a fun project. My goal was to do different ages from great-grandma and grandparents to young parents…my own family served as inspiration.”

If planning to attend, RSVP to [email protected] or 920.746.1786. Hope Church is located at 141 South 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
