Habitat for Humanity Installs New Metal Roof

When Judith Lewis first approached Door County Habitat for Humanity about her home, her son had to move out of his bed every time it rained because that is where the roof leaked. Through the years the existing roof sagged more than three inches in some spots and leaked in several places.

By creating a Thrivent Builds project through the Door County Habitat Home Preservation program, a team of Door County Habitat for Humanity volunteers installed their first ever metal roof. This solution was the most economical for the homeowner, and was a good fit for her home and neighborhood.

Door County Habitat for Humanity’s Home Preservation program helps individuals and families throughout Door County with critical home repairs. Previously known as A Brush With Kindness, the name was changed to better reflect the wide range of projects that can be done.  Homeowners that need repairs to maintain the safety and livability of their homes are encouraged to contact Door County Habitat for Humanity at 920.743.2869.
