The Habitat Trail Challenge at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay (crossroadsatbigcreek.org), is underway with an educational theme of Habitats. Individuals, families and other COVID-safe groups are challenged to hike the four new habitat trail loops: Field, Forest, Meadow and Creek.
Those who complete all four trails before Sept. 26, 3 pm, will receive a gift of either a native tree seedling from Evergreen Nursery – donated by the Climate Change Coalition of Door County – or a copy of Door County’s Wildflowers: A Field Guide for the Curious by Frances M. Burton and Aurelia M. Stampp. No registration fee is required, but donations are appreciated.
Nature by Appointment is available Sept. 18 and 19, with time slots at 10 am, 11 am, 4 pm or 5 pm. Safer at Home units, individuals and small groups (wearing masks and social distancing) may participate in a 45-minute, private nature hike on one of the trails. To make an appointment, email [email protected] using “Nature by Appointment” as the subject line, and list the names of the participants in the body of the email.
