Hagen Family Christmas at TAP

Karen Mal will perform Jan. 2 at TAP.

The Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) in Sturgeon Bay will host a number of upcoming events including a volunteer meeting, the annual Hagen Family Christmas concert, and a performance by Karen Mal.

Taking place Dec. 13 at 6 pm, the volunteer meeting is open to anyone interested in volunteering for the Third Avenue Playhouse in any capacity, including ushering, answering phones, building sets and more. TAP’s new directors, Robert Boles and James Valcq, will host the meeting. The meeting is open to all present and former volunteers as well as to newcomers.

Dec. 17 at 7:30 pm, the Hagens will return to the Third Avenue Playhouse for their traditional Christmas concert. The evening will feature music and merriment, Washington Island style.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $8 for students.

Then on Jan. 2 at 7:30 pm, Karen Mal of Austin, Texas, will perform. Mal has created a name for herself as a captivating singer, instrumentalist and songwriter. Ranging from impressionistic to philosophical, her songs have brought her nationwide acclaim.

Door County audiences will remember her as a long-time company member of American Folklore Theatre, composer for Door Shakespeare, instructor at Door County Bluegrass Camp, and solo artist at local concert venues.

Mal has released five CDs, including a brand-new instrumental holiday recording called A Mandolin Christmas.
