Hairpin 5K Goes Virtual

The Hairpin 5K Run/Walk is going virtual for 2020. Like many events, the July 4 tradition – the longest-running 5K in Door County – has adjusted in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friends of Gibraltar Schools has hosted the Hairpin 5K Run/Walk as a fundraising event for 30-plus years, with the proceeds providing all of the funding each year for field trips and enrichment experiences for students in grades K-12 at Gibraltar Schools. Your participation in the Virtual Hairpin 5K Run/Walk will allow Friends of Gibraltar to continue providing excellent educational programs for Gibraltar Schools.

Participants will have from June 20 to July 5, 2020, to complete a 5K run/walk on a route of their choice. Friends of Gibraltar is not mandating that the participant run/walk any certain place or route to take part in this fun virtual challenge.

Runners will submit their running time, and organizers will mail medals for first-place times in each age category and gender. Participants’ names will be drawn in each age category to win a Door County gift basket. Registration fees have been reduced to $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger.

The 2020 price does not include a T-shirt, but participants may order Hairpin merchandise online after registering.
